2025 Annual Conference + Engineering Excellence Awards Formal Banquet

Thank you for attending ACEC California's 2025 Annual Conference. Attendees experienced a dynamic day of professional development, education, and industry networking. The day was packed with speakers who brought together the "technical" and the "human" aspects of innovation, in the engineering and land surveying industries. In addition, attendees networked with fellow industry professionals, engaged in firm roundtables, and visited the 18 exhibiting companies. The day was rounded out with the Annual Scholarship Foundation Fundraising Formal Banquet, presenting the ACEC California Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA). A wonderful celebration of engineering and land surveying projects completed by California firms.

Thank you to those who attended our Board of Directors Meeting and Federal PAC Fundraiser which were also held in conjunction with the Conference and EEA events!

At the Board of Directors meeting the day before the Conference, we held a special champagne toast to recognize our long-standing Monterey Bay Chapter Board Member and Past President, Robert DeWitt (Hogan Land Services). Congratulations Bob on your retirement! Thank you for everything you have done for ACEC California and the industry as a whole.

The Conference program began with a welcome address from the Mayor of Anaheim, Ashleigh Aitken and was followed by speed sessions covering the topics of: Developing the Next Generation of the Industry Workforce, The Business Case for DEI and 5 Generations Under 1 Roof.

Following the lunch program we had two panels. The first panel covered the topic of AI Unleashed: Engineering the Future where panelists discussed AI basics, what's on the horizon and the liability around the use of AI in the workspace. The second panel was a conversation around the 2035 California Zero Emission Mandates, the opportunities, challenges and strategies used to achieve this ambitious goal. Following the program were wrap up remarks from Board President, Mariam Virani and time to visit exhibitors. Following the Conference was the Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet, showcasing 56 award winning projects. We presented 17 Honor, 24 Merit and 16 Commendation awards. The Golden State Award winner was announced, and Walter P Moore took the title for their Intuit Dome project. Learn more through our press releases.

In addition to the awards presentations, we heard from one of our past scholarship recipients who inspired the audience with their passion and dedication to the industry. We also were entertained by former engineer turned comedian, Don McMillan.

Proceeds from the banquet and silent auction benefit the Scholarship Foundation and we are pleased to announce that the banquet and auction raised over $55K for future scholarships. Thank you to all who contributed. Also, a giant thanks Atlas Technical Consultants for your Diamond Sponsorship and to all our banquet sponsors. These events could not have happened without your support and contributions.
