ACEC California Welcomes New Executive Committee President: Gary Antonucci 

 

Gary Antonucci is a Principal Bridge Engineer with Moffatt & Nichol in Walnut Creek and has 40 years of engineering experience in the planning and design of transportation facilities encompassing urban and interstate highways, heavy and light rail, and pedestrian/bicycle facilities. He has a strong Caltrans design background and has completed numerous state highway projects requiring Caltrans review and approval. Gary has completed more than 300 individual projects and for the past 30 years has focused specifically in project management of complex assignments requiring large, multi-discipline teams.  He has practiced in California his entire career and received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Gary’s involvement with ACEC-California began 15 years ago with the Riverside-San Bernardino Chapter, where he served in the board positions of Secretary and Treasurer.  After relocating to Northern California, he joined the Bay Bridge Chapter where he was Treasurer, President for two consecutive terms, and State Director.  His involvement in statewide committees includes both member and chair of the Caltrans Headquarters and Structures Professional Liaison Committees, as well as membership in other committees such as Associated General Contractors of America, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and California High Speed Rail.

 Carollo Engineers, Inc. 

as 2019 Golden State Award Winner

 

The American Council of Engineering Companies, California (ACEC California) named the Woodland Aquifer Storage and Recovery Wells #29 and #30 as its 2019 Golden State Award Winning Project. The Golden State Award is the highest honor ACEC California bestows as part of its Engineering Excellence Awards Program. Carollo Engineers, Inc. of Sacramento completed the project for the city of Woodland, California.

"This year's Golden State Award winner is a unique example of how innovation and modernization can produce a water supply system that fully utilizes a city's water rights while maintaining an economical price," said Brad Diede, Executive Director of ACEC California. "We congratulate Carollo Engineers, Inc. and commend the City of Woodland for its comprehensive approach to addressing its supply needs during periods of high demand and drought."

ACEC California Announces 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards

 

ACEC California announced the 2019 recipients of its annual Engineering Excellence Awards on January 9, 2019. Projects were recognized for demonstrating an exceptional degree of innovation, complexity, achievement and value.Fourteen projects earned the prestigious Honor Award distinction, fifteen were recognized with Merit Awards, and eight Commendation Awards were granted. 

 

The winner of the Golden State Award, an honor bestowed on the best overall project, was announced at the Engineering Excellence Awards dinner on February 7, 2019. The awards dinner is also a fundraiser for the ACEC California Scholarship Foundation 501(c)3, which provides scholarship awards to graduate and undergraduate students that are recognized for their notable and outstanding academic achievements. Honor Award winners also are eligible to enter the national level Engineering Excellence Awards competition and will have photographic panels on display at the Capitol, outside of the Governor’s office, during National Engineers Week, in February 2019.
