Statement of Purpose

The primary purpose of the Continuing Education Committee is to offer an opportunity for continuing education and professional development for professional engineers and land surveyors. To that end, the committee plans and organizes educational seminars, and manages and tracks the Professional Development Program.

 

Goals and Objectives

 

1. Professional Development Program

ACEC California's Continuing Education and Professional Development Program grants Certificates of Recognition to qualifying professional engineers and land surveyor members and their registered employees. In addition to assisting members in meeting out-of-state licensure requirements, a ACEC California's Continuing Education Certificate reminds your staff, clients, and community of your commitment to continue your professional development.

All ACEC California professional engineer and land surveyor members and their registered employees who have successfully completed 12 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) during the year qualify to receive a Certificate of Recognition from ACEC California indicating this achievement. Credit hours earned at industry-related events qualify toward a certificate. To receive your certificate(s), please complete and mail the Professional Development report forms to the ACEC California office along with the $25 processing fee per certificate. 2. Seminars

The Continuing Education Committee plans and sponsors annual seminars. When the seminar programs are determined, the committee selects the topics, identifies speakers and sets the budget, including the price for attendance. Working with the Communications Director, the committee decides how to best promote and advertise each seminar to ensure maximum attendance. ACEC-CA staff members are responsible for tracking seminar registration, costs and income. With direction from the committee, the Communications Director arranges meeting space and other details. A budget for each ACEC-CA-sponsored seminar is prepared and maintained by the Communications Director, with the Accounting Manager completing the final financial statement. The committee’s goal is to keep seminar costs low (for maximum value as a ACEC-CA membership benefit) with income exceeding costs.
